The Rice Hotel had a wireless telegraph machine
installed in its lobby, the YMCA was formally opened
downtown, our City Council set a speed limit of eight
miles per hour for Houston streets, & Barringer-Norton,
a shop specializing in made-to-
measure suits and hand tailoring
for gentlemen, opened its doors for
the very first time at 1500 Preston
Avenue in downtown Houston.

Model T's and horse drawn wagons
created the traffic in front of the
store, which sold custom suits and
dress shirts through home and
office visits via horse and buggy.
